Account & Data Management

What happens if I don’t use my account for a long time?

If your account is inactive for 24 months, we’ll send email notifications starting at 18 months. After 24 months of inactivity, your account and all data will be permanently deleted. You can prevent this by simply logging in or subscribing to any paid plan.

Can I export my collection data?

Yes! You can export your catalog data through your account settings. We provide data in standard formats (such as CSV or JSON), and photo downloads may be provided separately. Make sure to export before deleting your account, as we cannot provide data after deletion is finalized.

What happens if my subscription payment fails?

We’ll attempt to collect payment for up to 7 days while maintaining your current access. After 7 days, your account reverts to Free tier limitations, but your data remains stored. Your subscription reactivates immediately once payment is successful.


Photos & Storage

What types of photos can I upload?

You can upload photos of vinyl records, album covers, jackets, inserts, and related materials from your personal collection. Photos must be clear enough to identify the album and its condition. We don’t allow content unrelated to vinyl collecting or copyrighted images downloaded from other sources.

Can I add more photo storage to my plan?

Yes! Paid subscribers can purchase photo add-ons (+100, +500, or +1,000 photos) that follow the same billing cycle as your base subscription. Photo add-ons aren’t available for Free tier users. You can stack multiple add-ons for maximum capacity.

What photo formats and sizes do you accept?

We accept JPEG, PNG, and WebP formats. File size limits vary by plan: Free tier photos are limited to 300KB each, while paid plans support larger files up to 2.2MB for high-quality documentation.


Privacy & Security

Do you use voice recordings for anything other than cataloging?

No. When you use voice input, we process your audio in real-time to identify albums and don’t permanently store the recordings. Only the resulting text transcription is saved in your catalog.

Who can see my collection?

Your collection is private to your account. We don’t share your collection data with other users or use it for anything beyond providing our service, though we may use anonymized, aggregated data for service improvements.


Technical & Features

Does MyVinylCatalog work on mobile devices?

Yes! Our platform works as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on mobile devices, providing a mobile-optimized experience through your web browser. No app store download required.

Where does the album information come from?

We retrieve album metadata from music databases like the Discogs API to help populate artist, genre, and release information for your collection. You can also manually enter or edit any album details.

Can I track multiple copies of the same album?

Yes! Our platform supports tracking multiple copies of the same album, perfect for collectors who have different pressings, conditions, or variants of their favorite records.


Billing & Plans

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes, you can cancel through your account settings or by contacting support. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you’ll retain access to paid features until then, but won’t receive refunds for unused time.

What’s the difference between monthly and annual billing?

Annual subscriptions offer significant savings (up to 34% off) compared to monthly billing. Both are charged automatically on your billing anniversary, but annual plans provide better value for long-term users. You can switch between monthly and annual at any time.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) via Stripe and PayPal. Both options are available during checkout — choose whichever is most convenient for you.
